There we go. Time to tell an old story...

For a long while now, just to pass the time
I've been tellin' jokes that happen to rhyme
They keep me sharp, and they ease my pain
They calm my heart and they keep me sane

Just a bone a dead tree picked

Pap's heard these a million times before
So I tell 'em to the ruin door

So one day, while I'm doin' my act
I hear somethin' that makes me jump back
When I knock-knock I'm not prepared
To hear somebody say

TORIEL:

"who's there?"

SANS:

"Tibula",

TORIEL:

"Tibula Who?"

SANS:

"Thanks for the tip, you lady, you!"

She laughed louder than I'd ever heard before
So I entertained the ruin door

This kept goin' on for months and months
And that ol' lady never felt sad once
Till one day, before I spoke
I heard her sing...

And I broke.

TORIEL:

I'm a wreck, it's not your fault
It was I who led assault

If a child goes from my side to yours...

SANS:

She whispered through the ruin door...

TORIEL:

I beg you, Please protect them from despair
Lend them a helping hand

SANS:

Bluntly, if she hadn't asked me that there
YOU'D BE DEAD WHERE YOU STAND.

And well, Kid, soon you'll decide
If my choice was justified

I'll be keepin' on ya either or
All the way back at the ruin dooooor!
